Week 6 recap

After a tough loss to Centennial, we had one of our best weeks of practice in the pouring rain as we approached our game this week against Osseo, and the result was a well-played 47-7 win over our crosstown rival.

Offensively we were able to take advantage of situations presented to us and hit some big plays.   We were able to run the ball extremely well as Cooper Wegscheid and Spencer Wherry both had over 90 yards rushing and Nate Elmes was able to put it in the endzone three times.   Also, we were able to connect on some big pass plays with Luke Raymon coming down with a long second-quarter TD reception and Jacob Engel has continued his strong play from the Tight End position.    Our offensive line did a great job winning the line of scrimmage and will continue to be the key to the offense as the year progresses.

Defensively, we did a great job giving the offense field position all night and it was fun to see Anthony Gipson getting to the endzone at the end of the first half with a pick-six!   Nate Becker did some great things at defensive end running down the quarterback and running back in numerous instances as the entire front seven created havoc in the backfield all night.   This continues to be the side of the ball we are banking on and they provided the opportunities necessary to give our team a chance to succeed.

This week was an exceptional week as the entire school came together to combat cancer and stepped up to show support for those in our community that are and have suffered from this horrible disease.    The way these young people came together was awesome and shows just how powerful the presence of a group that believes in something bigger than themselves can be.   Thanks to the entire student body for making this a great week at school.  Next week, we take on Anoka for the 72nd annual pumpkin bowl, so that should be a blast!   Go Crimson!  Get to 1 - 0 next week!
