Crimson Get Back to the Win Column Against Champlin

When faced with adversity, it's always great to see how teams respond and after the first quarter last week against Champlin Park, it was clear to see the boys responded well.   With a 28 point first quarter, the Crimson finished the evening with a 48-15 win on the road against the Rebels.

This game all started with special teams.   We opened the game causing a turnover on the opening kickoff, and two kickoffs later we recovered a perfectly executed pooch kick by Kicker Ben Jameson.    Because of this, we were able to jump to a 21-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game and never looked back.   Also, it was great to get Connor Fournier out there kicking field goals and he hit all 6 extra points and both his field goals of 37 and 43 yards.  He will be a huge asset for us in big moments coming up down the stretch.

Defensively, we got back to creating havoc and getting off of the field on 3rd down.   Mason South had another big game with 3 sacks, while Jacob Anderson and Kristian Lodholz also tallied one.   Aiden McMahon had a big game with 13 total tackles and 4 tackles for loss, and he played physical all night long.   This is the group that we rely on and will be fun to watch them play the next couple weeks against two programs that like to hit you in the mouth.   Again, it will be fun to see how we respond.

Offensively, we were able to take advantage of many short fields, and were able to run the ball effectively which was great to see.   Derrick Jameson was back to breaking some big plays with 117 yards rushing on only 6 carries while scoring 3 TDs.   Jacob Kilzer also was able to reach the endzone twice rushing and one more time through the air, and Tanner Albeck scored his first Varsity touchdown on a 39 yard reception.   It was fun to see us last week get back to what makes us what we are, and our offensive line of Hunter Gerber, Max Draheim, Andrew Dotzenrod, Zeth Petrie, Will Resman, and Sam Peters did a great job playing physical and creating holes.

Next week it is homecoming at The Grove against Wayzata in a top ten matchup.   I know Friday night will be hopping at the Grove, but it's our job to stay focused and realize that our number one responsibility is to prepare at our top level coming into Friday night.    It's always a blast to play the Trojans, and I know it will be an awesome atmosphere out there.    Let's go out there and show what Crimson football is about and how great these kids can play in front of a crowd filled with Crimson pride! It's what it's all about!  Let's Go!!!
