Crimson Jump Out Early for Their 7th Win

On a rainy Wednesday night in Arden Hills, the Crimson finished their season right with a 48-0 win over Mounds View.    This win completed the regular season at 7-1 earning the Metro Gold North District Champs.  A great accomplishment for this group of young men.

Offensively, we scored on 6 of our 7 possessions in the first half, as Jacob Kilzer kept his steady play going 9 - 13 for 110 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Also, Derrick Jameson finished with 108 yards on 9 carries with 2 touchdowns.  Derrick finished the regular season with an average yards per carry of 10.6 yards which is truly a testament to his big play ability and our offensive line.   There were others who found the end zone with Tanner Albeck scoring his first rushing touchdown of the year and Cole Newell finding the end zone at receiver.   However, the highlights of the night were Seniors Mason South and Anthony Pham getting their first Varsity touchdowns, and Zane Vitense delivering a touchdown pass in Varsity action.

Defensively, they were able to finish with their first shutout of the year after a dramatic goal line stand by the Java crew  to finish the game.   Cade Cook led the team in tackles from his safety position with eight and Ben Strehlow was second with six tackles on the night.   Juniors Jackson Powers and Sam Kliber continued their strong play each landing interceptions and Powers added a fumble recovery to his resume.  This group did a great job giving us good field position all night and we hope that continues as we enter the postseason!

Lastly, Our JV team finished the season 7-1 with a 28 -7 victory against Blaine, but more importantly they had a blast in what they did.   The unsung heroes of this team that give us great looks every week, play each day with enthusiasm, and are the reason we have success on Friday night because of the preparation they give us, finished the season with some joyous moments.  The final JV game of the season is always fun to witness because our Senior offensive lineman that have sacrificed for two years get to carry the ball and occasionally pop into play some positions like Safety and linebacker.  It truly is fun to watch and we are proud and grateful for all this group does for us when nobody is watching.

On Friday, the brackets for the playoffs came out and we play Roseville at the Grove this Friday night at 7 PM attempting to get step 1.    The regular season earned us the right to get a #1 seed, but now the most important game of the year is always the one that is currently on our plate.  Roseville is that this week, so it is our job to pour our hearts and souls into this thing, prepare to the utmost, and walk out on the field Friday night ready to flourish.  It is the greatest time of year and truly what all the boys have put in all their efforts over the offseason for.   It is awesome!  So let's get the Grove rocking! It needs to be the biggest advantage we have coming into this game and let's get Step 1!  GO CRIMSON!
