49 Point First Half Leads Way to Homecoming Victory

Homecoming Friday, there's nothing like it!  After a crazy fun Pep Fest during the school day, our boys had the opportunity to play in front of our student body, community and alumni against Coon Rapids and we came out with a 55-6 victory.  Facing a team with three significant injuries, we did a good job capitalizing and jumping on them early with a 35 point first quarter that set the tone.

Defensively, we did what he had to do against a team that was missing three of their major threats, and controlled the field position and got numerous three and outs.  Sophomore Ryder Skanson led the way with six tackles and junior Jack Weigel added five of his own with a great fumble recovery on kickoff team.  Our defensive line of Ethan Berry, Ayden Gunville and Sam Hanson kept doing a great job making plays, and many of our JV players did a nice job as they played the whole second half.

Offensively, we did a nice job running the football as Chuck Langama continued his torrid pace with 173 yards on 14 carries and 4 TD's rushing.   He also added a TD reception as Kaden Harney did a nice job leading the team with 4 completions on his 4 attempts.  Our offensive line kept improving weekly, and Dylan Vokal and Henry Stang provided fire power each finding the end zone.   This group will have a big challenge next week as STMA is much better defensively and will provide a challenge up front.  It will be fun to see our offense prepare and grow this week and see if we can keep this thing rolling.

Our Special Teams made a big play as Jack Weigel recovered a fumble  on the kickoff team and Henry Sievers was able to make all of his seven extra point attempts.   Again, this is an area that needs to make an impact, so it will be fun to see the game where they will have to do so.

Next week we play our final section/district game against a much improved STMA football team that has great momentum coming into our game winning three of their last four games.   A win in this game allows us the chance claim the championship in our section and give us great momentum going into our final game of the regular season.  This Thursday night will be a great barometer for us to see where we have grown as a football team.   We will face a team that is well-coached, competes every play, and will make us play a great 48 minutes.  It should be a blast!  We need to fill up their stadium, turn it Crimson and play our best game of the year as a team.   It's a short week, so preparation is paramount to our success, and I can't wait to see what we bring against the Knights!  GO CRIMSON!
