Friday night had an electric atmosphere again! We started out the evening appreciating our teachers and staff members that have helped influence our athletes, managers and film crew. We want to thank each and every staff member for making an impact on these students. This event forced us to move up our pregame subtly. The only concern as a coach is that students lose focus going into the game. This was not the case though as our guys came out on both sides of the ball with a sense of confidence that helped build an early lead. Our defense took on a challenge of facing a tough running back and a program that likes to be balanced between the run game and the pass game. In the first half, we were able to create some early 3 and outs. These early stops helped create shorter fields in which our offense took full advantage of with scoring drives.
Charles Langama was able to put together an impressive first half with 3 touchdowns on only 10 carries. Nathan Hromadka was able to find the end zone with an impressive stretch for his second touchdown of the season. Patrick Wright had plenty of carries going into this game but hadn’t found the end zone yet. Tonight, he was able to break through twice. Kaden Harney was efficient in the little bit of throwing that we did do in the first half. Our offense put up over 320 yards in the first half and found the end zone 6 times. I was very impressed with our o line this week because we threw a lot at them in the week in possibilities that they were going to see.
Beaux Thyen had himself a night. Beaux was able to pick the quarterback off twice and in fact returned one of them for a touchdown. Jacob Wrbanek was able to get to the quarterback twice on the evening. In the first half, we kept Anoka to 69 yards of offense. We were able to put pressure on the quarterback all evening long. We were able to fly around as a team all night long and it was fun to watch their energy throughout the first half.
The second half didn’t start exactly like we wanted which we will need to put a point of emphasis on this going forward. It would have been great to take the momentum that we had going into halftime and come out of halftime with that same energy. We were able to put finishing touches on the game and we were able to get nearly every single athlete into the game. It was great to watch our depth keep battling Anoka’s starters. Our junior varsity gave us such a great look all week long. The work that they did providing such a great look and then having the opportunity to see the field on a Friday night was very rewarding. It was a battle of top 10 teams and for us to come out on top with such a dominating score means the world to our guys. This should our team going forward.
Next week is Homecoming Week. It is a big week as we are taking on a very talented team in the Blaine Bengals. The game should be able to bring another week of an electric crowd. I am hoping that the stands are packed and that we have a standing room only type crowd.
LEAVE NO DOUBT
