Friday night took care of itself by having an incredible regular season. The regular season allowed us to be a #1 seed going into the game and giving us two home games. The first home game featured our team sitting on an undefeated season versus Burnsville who was winless on the season. The first quarter was all it took as we jumped out to a 35-0 lead. Our defense was able to score twice in this quarter and our offense took care of business on their own end.
In the second quarter, we were able to continue with our success by scoring one more time on each side of the ball before turning the game over to our JV team. Our JV team was able to play approximately 2 ½ quarters. Unfortunately for our offense, I took them out of their norm by forcing them to only run the ball. They did a good job moving the ball though still and were able to put one more score up on the board during the game.
Defensively, we were able to get all the players in for at least a rep. The defense did a great job as well besides a couple of trick plays. One of the trick plays did allow Burnsville to score, but I was proud of the work that the defense put in to try to maintain our shutout.
This next week will be critical as we are playing a formidable opponent in Eden Prairie. Our guys will have a great test to qualify for state. The guys know that they will need to be focused throughout the week to help make Friday go as well as possible. Next week looks like we are going to truly get some fall weather which will be fun as well. The hope is that we fill Crimson Stadium for what is truly our seniors last home game and therefore their farewell bid from a stadium they have called home. Let’s continue our path and focus on the task at hand which is one week at a time. Next week is a Leave No Doubt type game.
