Crimson remain Competitive in tough 12-6 loss to Hill Murray

Maple Grove came close to win. its first ever game on Friday falling short to Hill-Murray touchdown.

Hill-Murray jumped out to a 6-0 lead after a 38 yard touchdown run, then Maple Grove quickly rallied behind Quarterback C.J. Woodrow 50 yard pass, connecting with Jason Amundson to tie the game at six. The game remained tied until the third quarter when Hill-Murray head for good, scoring a touchdown on a 55 yard run.

Despite the loss, Maple Grove remained very competitive throughout the game. Coach Hansen felt the defense had an outstanding night, and really came on playing great. In the past they have not always been able to put together the whole defensive package, which they were able WA° against Hill Murray.

Hansen also feels that the defense coaches Dan Roff, Darby Carlson and Ron Zopfi have done a great job. Hansen feels that the special teams also put in a great game.

Offensively, Maple Grove saw some disappointment. The Crimson scored on their first possession but were unable to put any more points on the scoreboard. Hansen said that the team was able to move the ball throughout the game but was hurt by penalties. Hansen also said that the team had an opportunity to go ahead late in the third quarter when a touchdown was called back. In the game, Woodrow had a total of 178 yards total passing, with 12 completions and two interceptions, along with one touchdown that was scored by Jason Amundson. Maple Grove faces a tough Park Center team tomorrow night.
